Just Checking for iOS is an easy-to-use app for managing checking accounts on your iOS (iPhone, iPad) device. It supports the larger iPhone 6 Plus as well.
Just Checking for iOS is $.99 in the App Store. Works on devices with iOS 7.0 and above.
When you open the program for the first time, you will be looking at the screen that shows your accounts.
To add an account, press the plus button in the upper right.
This will take you to the details for your account where you can change the date, account, beginning balance. After you are done, press Done.
Now you will be taken back to the Accounts list. You see your newly added account.
To switch to the Transactions screen for this account, press the transactions button at the bottom of your screen.
The transactions list show all the transactions for a particular account.
To choose an account, click the folder in the upper left corner of the screen.
The Select Account screen appears. We tap the account and the Select Account screen is dismissed.
We now see the heading shows our account name on the transactions list screen, but we don't have any transactions yet.
To add a transaction to the account, press the plus button.
Since we paid with a check at the store, we enter the check number for Pay Type. In Payee we enter the name of the business. In memo, we note that it was for Groceries. We enter the amount paid in Amount. Since the bank has not been notified of the charge, we leave Cleared turned off. We click Done when finished.
When you click Done on the transaction detail screen, you will be taken back to the transaction list screen for the account. We can see the transaction listed. At the bottom of the screen we can see the beginning, actual account balance and the bank balance for the account. Since it has not cleared the bank, our bank balance doesn't figure in the transaction we just added. Actual is the total of all transactions so the transaction we just added is used. The amount for expense transactions are displayed in red. Since the transaction is not marked cleared the amount isn't bold.
We now use the plus button and add an Income item for a paycheck that we receive. We mark it Cleared if the bank has record of it. We click Done when finished.
We now can see both transactions listed. At the bottom of the screen we can see the beginning, actual account balance and the bank balance have been updated to reflect the new transaction. Since it has cleared the bank, our bank balance figures in the transaction we just added. Actual is the total of all transactions so the transaction we just added is used. The amount for income transactions are displayed in blue. Since the transaction is marked cleared the amount is bold.
After you have entered several transactions, you can use the Pay Type, Payee, Memo buttons to choose from previously entered transactions to speed up entry. Choosing "Check" in Pay Type will calculate the next check number.
